About

In our master thesis Anders Solhøy and I worked with Norsk Folkemuseum to create a space for exhibiting and the teaching of our intangible cultural heritage. The main task was to envision new facilities for the traditional craftsmen working at the museum, where they would be more visible to the visitors and could host classes and workshops for smaller groups.

Our suggestion uses three historical buildings at the museum: a barn, a stable and a farmhouse. All buildings originating from the same area. Representing an accurate depiction of a farm from the area east of Oslo.

We chose to make minimal new traces in the buildings while giving them new foundations supporting the new functions. In this way the historical buildings, museum objects, could still tell their stories, while being filled with new life.
